Chris Riggott

Riggot started his career off playing for Derby County in 1998, making some outstanding performances in his centre back position. His outstanding play during the 2000-01 campaign earned him the accolade as their ‘player of the year.’ His great play at the club earned him a move to Middlesbrough at the start of the 2003-04 season and he has become a permanent fixture at the club since moving. Riggott became first choice central defender at the club at the back along with Gareth Southgate. His outstanding play helped Boro reach the final of the UEFA Cup in 2006.

James Morrison

Morrison was a great product of the Middlesbrough academy and has come through the ranks at the club to establish himself as a key member of their squad. He is a formidable option in the midfield area for Boro and made his debut for the club during the 2004-05 season. He became a permanent fixture in the starting line up during the 2005-06 campaign that saw Boro reach the UEFA Cup final.

George Boateng

Boateng moved from Dutch football club, Feyenoord to Coventry City in the year 1998 and soon became a solid member of the Coventry defence under the guidance of Gordon Strachan. After a blistering season playing for Coventry, Boateng moved to Aston Villa in 1999 for £4.5 million and he helped Villa reach the 2000 FA Cup final. In the summer of 2002, Boateng signed for Middlesbrough for £5 million and occupied the midfield position in the team and is a great link up player with the Boro attack force. He helped Boro win the league cup in 2004. His outstanding play during the 2005-06 season helped Boro reach the UEFA Cup final.

Stewart Downing

Downing made his premiership debut with Middlesbrough in 2002 at the young age of 17 years. He established himself as a formidable member of the team during the 2003-04 season and was outstanding the following year as he made his international debut in a match against Holland in February 2005.He was considered by many to be the finest young English player in the premiership during the 2004-05 season. He has now made over 100 appearances for the club in his midfield position.
