Tony Mowbray

Mowbray started his career off playing for his home town, Middlesbrough and at the young age of 22 years old, he was installed as the club’s captain. He spent the vast majority of his playing career playing in his defensive role at the back and spent over ten years at the club. He helped Middlesbrough gain promotion during the 1987-88 season in too the top flight. The Boro team was built around Mowbray and he was part of a great defence line that featured, Gary Parkinson, Simon Coleman and Alan Kernaghan. His great committed play later on earned him a move to Glasgow Celtic and he finished his career off playing for Ipswich Town.

Bernie Slaven

After a great spell playing for Scottish football outfit, Albion Rovers, Slaven moved on to star for Middlesbrough, signing for the club for £25,000. He went on to make an outstanding contribution at Boro during his very successful period at the club, in total he made over 380 appearances and scored a staggering 146 goals. His great play for Boro earned him a role to play for the Republic of Ireland during the 1990 world cup finals. Slaven spent over 15 years playing for Middlesbrough, considered now by many as an all time great at the club.

Gary Pallister

Pallister started off his career playing at the heart of the Middlesbrough defence at the tender age of 19 years during the 1984-85 league campaign. He spent four season playing in the heart of the Boro defence, making 156 league appearances for the club. He moved to Manchester united in August 1989, his £2,400,000 million move made him the clubs most expensive ever signing at the time. During his successful first spell at Boro he made his England debut in April 1988. He went on to spend nine years with United before moving back to Middlesbrough in time for the 1998-99 season. During his second spell at Boro he made over 60 appearances in a three year period.
